The Physio-Control LIFEPAK® CR2 defibrillator features technology that is best-in-class along with the simplicity and portability needed for an AED designed to be used by the general public in a sudden cardiac arrest emergency. The LIFEPAK CR2 puts in the hands of the lay-rescuer the advantages of advanced technology emergency medical professionals have come to trust and rely on for sudden cardiac arrest events. The LIFEPAK CR2 AED is exceedingly easy to use. Simply turn the AED on by opening the lid and follow the instructions delivered by ClearVoice® Technology to apply the pads. The clear, calm, step-by-step instructions will continue to direct the user through the entire rescue process.
The volume of the voice directions will automatically adjust to compensate for the background noise. There is also a bilingual option that allows the user to toggle between two preset languages, even during the rescue process. Through the use of the QUIK-STEP Defibrillation, Pacing, ECG electrode pads you can perform defibrillation on adult or child patients using the same pads. The LIFEPAK CR2 front panel includes a "Child Mode" rescue button which, when pushed, transposes the rhythm analysis to compensate for a pediatric patient. Just follow the instructions for pad placement and CPR. There is no need to have separate pediatric pads or a pediatric key. As with all LIFEPAK AEDs, Physio-Control uses escalating power during rescue defibrillation. The initial shock for adults is delivered at 150/200 joules, the second shock is delivered at 300 joules, and the third and subsequent shocks will be delivered at 360 joules.
A word about joules:
A joule (J) is a unit of energy used as the measurement of shock strength provided by an AED. An initial shock from the LIFEPAK CR2 AED is delivered at 200 joules (200J), which has been shown to be effective at defibrillating the heart of a majority of sudden cardiac arrest victims. However, some patients are more difficult to defibrillate than others, and an ineffective shock can leave them in VF longer and increase costly interruptions in CPR. Physio-Control only offers AEDs with a full range of energy, with default escalating settings of 200J, 300J, and 360J. A recent study has shown a statistically significant benefit for higher escalating shocks compared to fixed lower-energy shocks in patients with VF who required more than one defibrillation shock.3 In addition, the American Heart Association has provided guidance on the importance of coordinating good CPR with defibrillation to minimize interruptions in chest compressions. Simply put, we believe the capacity for 360 joules gives patients a better opportunity for a better outcome. The LIFEPAK CR2 also features Remote Monitoring. You can connect your LIFEPAK CR2 to a Wi-Fi network and receive alerts on anything that may affect the device's readiness. It also comes standard with the 4-Year QUIK-STEP Adult/Child Electrode Pads, a 4-Year Lithium Battery, a Metronome and CPR Coaching, an Ingress Protection (IP) Rating of 55, and an Eight-Year Manufacturer's Warranty. Options include Semi- or Fully-Automatic, Wi-Fi or USB connections, Single or Dual language, Carry Case or convenient Carry Handle.
